UNICEF Inclusive Play Space Competition

The Project is the extension of Playright UNICEF Inclusive Play Project that based on Article 31 of United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) and Article 30 of Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities to draw public attention and take a step further to develop inclusive play environment for all children in Hong Kong. The project will improve the play opportunities for children with disabilities. The project will further advocate the values of “inclusive play” by providing educational programme for related sectors and organizing design competition with exhibition to raise the public awareness on the concept of universal design and adopt the newly developed “Inclusive Play Space Design Guidelines” for a real public playground. Ultimately, this will be a step towards the development of a demonstrative inclusive playground in Hong Kong.
Harris Hobbs were among one of five international teams to be awarded for their design solution, integrating inclusive play with new technologies, expressed through the familiar narrative of "Monkey Magic". Designed in collaboration with an international team of experts in a variety of fields involving aspects of children's play; Bronwyn Cumbo (UTS:ISF), Grant Menzies (The City of Play), and Craig Doubleday (Urbis HK).
